Lesson 13
Symbols and identity: from coat of arms to ornament
The lesson explores how symbols — coats of arms, ornaments, flags, and the national anthem — shape a sense of identity and belonging. Children learn not to be afraid to be curious and to ask questions about what they do not understand. They study both national and personal symbols, reflect on their meanings, share memories and associations, and create their own ornaments and coats of arms. Through creative activities, philosophical questions, and visual exploration, children discover how symbols “tell stories” about themselves and their connection to their homeland.
