This summer, the Freedom Diaries team held an art therapy workshop for more than 140 children at the Kyiv Palace of Children and Youth summer camp.

The event took place with the participation of young journalist Mark Kos and the 33 Channel Kids team, who helped us create a day full of creativity, inspiration, and new discoveries for the children.

Together with Freedom Diaries Creative Director and artist Mariia Proshkovska, the participants created their own “Suitcases of Freedom” — a symbolic space where they could place the things that matter most to them: their dreams, memories, values, sense of home, and everything that helps them stay true to themselves.

Through art, open conversations, and creative activities, the children explored their own experiences, learned to listen to one another, and found ways to express thoughts and feelings that are sometimes difficult to put into words.

A special highlight of the day was a performance by the duo Sisters Mix, whose heartfelt and energetic songs brought even more joy to the children and became a wonderful ending to the event.

For the Freedom Diaries team, it is especially meaningful to work with children not only in Ukrainian schools abroad but also here in Ukraine. We believe that every child deserves a safe space where they can create, ask questions, express themselves, and strengthen their connection to Ukrainian culture, their identity, and to themselves.
